By boat

From the Bench Head buoy proceed to the Nass beacon. The Mersea quarters are reached from the Naas by a well marked channel. Please stay in the channel as at certain states of the tide outside the channel is very shallow. As the buoyed channel finishes, we recommend at all states of the tide you follow the lines of moorings as this clearly indicates where the deep water is.

Moorings are usually available for visitors for an over night stay, we do not however have dedicated visitor moorings.

As you reach the first of the moored boats coming from the Nass beacon, contact our launchman on Marina Channel 37 (M), the call sign is YC1 (Pronounced Why see one) . They will direct you to an available mooring. The launch service is available to visiting yachtsmen and a small charge is made per trip. Launch Timetable

Please note that we do not have any fuelling facilities waterside at West Mersea. Should you require Diesel or Petrol, this is available at the garage in the high street by cans only.

Enjoy your stay.

By road

Please Check the time of high water before driving on or off the Island. The following link is connected to a camera overlooking the Strood (road on and off the Island).  If there is no traffic flowing it is likely that the road is closed due to the tide. Strood camera.

The nearest major town to us is Colchester which can be reached from north or south by the A12. From central Colchester take the B 1025 signposted to Mersea. Having crossed the Strood (the causeway that joins Mersea Island to the mainland but may be flooded at high tide) bear right and take the main road through West Mersea village until you reach the waterfront. Continue – leaving the Victory and Coast Inn pubs on your right – until you see The WMYC clubhouse on the right hand side opposite the public car park.

By rail

Colchester North Railway Station is well served by frequent rail services from London and Norwich, a taxi from the station to the clubhouse will take approximately 20-30 mins. There is also a regular bus service to the Island. (click for train information). Should you need a taxi to or from the stations please contact 01206 384666
