Antigua Week & RORC North Sea Race Success

Members may be interested to know that earlier this month, the wind did indeed fill-in for the last two days of Antigua Sailing Week. With the blessing of 14-15 knots of wind Holding Pattern scored 2× 2nd and 2×1st giving us the third overall podium in a very competitive fleet.

Last Friday Oystercatcher took part in the RORC North Sea race from Harwich to Scheveningen Holland, where we took line owners completing the 180 mile course in 18 hours 40 minutes. We won class zero and a second overall in a 59 boat IRC fleet. This was the first of two qualifying races in preparation for the Fastnet race in July. It was 40 years to the day when we won this race overall in an earlier Oystercatcher. The return 110 mile passage from Scheveningen to Harwich was achieved in a little over 6 hours at an average speed of 18 knots! Read more details on Sail World
