New Race Scorers Trained at WMYC/DSC Using Sailwave
WMYC/DSC is pleased to announce the successful completion of its first Sailwave race‑scoring training session, marking an important step in developing the club’s race management capability.
On the evening of 19 May, ten club members participated in the introductory session, gaining valuable hands‑on experience with Sailwave, a widely used software system for managing sailing race results. The group represented a broad range of experience levels, from those with a basic understanding of race administration to complete beginners encountering the software for the first time.
The training focused on practical learning, beginning with the fundamentals of race scoring. Within less than two hours, all participants had successfully progressed to scoring a pre‑prepared three‑race series, demonstrating both enthusiasm and a strong aptitude for the task
The newly trained scorers will now be invited to support experienced volunteers at upcoming events, allowing them to develop confidence and proficiency in a live race environment.
A second phase of training is planned in approximately three months’ time, providing further opportunities for skill development and progression within the club’s race organisation structure.
