Supper Talks 2019 (note corrected date to Dick Carter talk)

We have a varied selection of supper talks planned for 2019. Booking will be possible by signing up on the sheets in the bar or calling the restaurant, in the weeks immediately prior to each event. A simple two course supper in the Long Room will be followed by a talk with a nautical theme:

Saturday 16th February: Garth Cooper, co-author of The East Coast Pilot, will share snippets on cruising the East Coast in general, talk about what is involved in updating the book (a new edition is anticipated Autumn 2019) and introduce us to the North Sea Passage Pilot, which he has taken over from Brian Navin. He will also introduce a new pilotage project for blind sailors.

Saturday 30th March: Ann Chatterton, a long standing yacht club member with many sea miles, will share some of Resting Goose’s wanderings from the Atlantic to the UK in preparation for more Baltic adventures in 2019.

Saturday 11th May (corrected date from earlier post): Dick Carter the American sailor and yacht designer will talk about his career as a yacht designer, his influence on offshore racing and present his new book In the Golden Age of Offshore Racing.

And finally to look forward to after the 2019 sailing season, Roger Gaspar, author of Crossing The Thames Estuary, has agreed to talk about the Thames Estuary, covering some history and of course crossing it!
